Marley Tiles & the Ford Transit Van.

This is the story of one company and its relationship with the Transit van.

Over the years they have used the Ford Transit van over and over again. Here are some pictures of the vans they and their contractors used to provide their services to the public.

It was common practise for Marley to pay contractors to have their van painted in Marley colours, even though they ran a fleet of 2,000 Ford vehicles of their own, of which 150 were Transits. The reason for this was that every Transit on the road became a mobile bill board to advertise the company.

Marley is well known for it's tiles but in the past it has got involved in all sorts of building practices as well. One of the lesser known was pre-fabricated garages.  In fact they had a fleet of Transit vans erecting them.

When Marley went into block paving you could also lease a Transit (that was a big jump forward for the contractor)

In 1984 Marley Technical Roofing would supply and fix your roof on large contracts and used a fleet of Transits to help with the work

1987  Marley had a display set up that would go around  shows in the Home Counties to display their building materials.

That's it for now unless some kind person has some more picture's for me to continue the Transit/Marley story. Or perhaps you have a company that is linked to the Transit ? if so.. send me the picture's and I will add it to this section of the website.
